OV Golf Day Back in Full Swing

It was wonderful for the OV golfing community to see their Annual OV Golf Day return on 7 October 2022, with thanks to OV James Bailey (Cr 84-93) for organising the event this year.

James was joined by OVs Stuart Preece (Ch 75-80), Ian Smith (Cr 73-78), Andy Townsend (H 74-78), Gabriel Moores (Cl 87-95), Tom Guest (S 90-97), Paul Judge (W 83-93), Nic Sproson (H 71-76), Johnny Hung (Ch 89-94), Leigh Stote (Cl 83-93), Tim Whitehouse (K 86-94), Gary Murphy (Cr 87-94) , Nick Firth (Ch 86-93), Matt Richardson (CL 86-93) and George Blakeway (H 76-86).

James kindly gave a précis of the day:

“A great afternoon of golf was had at Ombersley Golf Club, catching up with old OV friends and making new. A bit of rain on the Front Nine failed to put a dampener on things, with predominantly sunshine on the Back Nine holes. The competition was fierce but the overall winner was Paul Judge, with a very good round giving him 44 points. His team also won the Fourball (Gabriel Moores, Tom Guest, Paul Judge, Nic Sproson). Well done to all of them.

“For the Closest to the Pin, it seems very few could find the dance floor and the award went to Stuart Preece. However, on the 18th hole there was some big hitting. In the end, the longest drive went to George Blakeway. However some credit goes to Guesty, who had placed the bunker rake such that it stopped George’s ball being bunkered!

“Special thanks to Firthy for the usual hilarities, which normally involved him putting his golf ball where no other can.

“The day ended with a couple of drinks and for most a nice local curry.

“We hope to make this an annual event again and we’re already looking forward to 2023!”
