OV in Charity Cycling Challenge

We have got this super report from OV Sarah Fardon (Os 01-08) on this incredible challenge she has just taken part in…

“The PrudentialRide100 on August 4th was a fabulous ride through and around London, together with its iconic set of hill climbs (and descents) to test even the hardiest of cyclists. The conclusion of this challenge marked a different achievement for me, as it enabled me to clock several hundred miles over the course of 6 weeks in aid of Thinking of Oscar, a children’s charity set up by my former IBM colleague. The first challenge was ‘Thinking of Oscar 500’ (TOO500), a 500 mile cycle over 5 days, visiting several of the UK’s children’s hospitals. Due to injury I only committed to complete Days 1 and 5 (200 miles) and so thought I would top up my mileage with the challenge (and hills!) of the Ride100 on August 4th.

The final day of the hospital ride actually featured Great Ormond Street, where I was able to catch OV Steph Rosoman (W 01-08) finishing her shift as a senior ICU nurse at the hospital. Cycling is definitely an endurance sport but a social one too, and I was thrilled to have been able to cover the distance in areas including London, Cambridge, Birmingham and Oxford, and raise over £1,000 for the charity with a few more events in the pipeline too.”

Well done Sarah!
