Pupils Post Impressive GCSE Results
King’s Worcester School is delighted to celebrate its Year 11 pupils’ remarkable success in GCSE examinations this year.
Over 1,430 GCSE exams were taken in total, with 72.6% of these being graded at 9-7. Almost 30% of all grades were the top grade 9 and nearly 100% were grades 9-4. These are a record-breaking set of GCSE results to have been awarded to pupils at King’s.
An impressive 56 pupils (40% of the year group) achieved at least 10 grades at 9-7 or better, with 12 pupils achieving grade 9s in all their subjects.
Reflecting on the results the Headmaster, Gareth Doodes, said, “These exceptional results are a true reflection of the resilience, determination and maturity shown by this group of pupils in what has been a challenging and very different two years. We are very proud of what they have achieved and look forward to welcoming the pupils back in September to begin their Sixth Form journey with us. I am grateful to the teachers at King’s, who taught them throughout the pandemic. Congratulations to everyone.”
Pupils Jamie, Luke, Mitali, Alicia, Riya, and Lucy celebrate their results with Mr Doodes.
Keen musician and drama student Riya M was “Over the Moon” with her results today. Riya achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s across all 11 subjects and will continue her studies at King’s Sixth Form in September.
Unusually there were four sets of twins receiving their results today at King’s Worcester. Twins Freya and Millie D and Harry and Emilia D were celebrating after receiving an incredible 38 9-7s (A*- A equivalent) between them. When asked about his results Harry said, “They are splendid. Our parents are so proud of what we’ve achieved and are so very happy for us.” Emilia added, “We are so chuffed and relieved that all our hard work has paid off and excited to be starting our A levels.”
