The Friendliest of Football Fixtures

On Tuesday 3 January 2023, the King’s 1st and 2nd team footballers played their annual matches against two OV teams, who were more than happy to return to Slingpool Walk and participate in two great games, played in great spirit. Hon OV Jon Sarriegui added,

“This annual event gives OVs the opportunity to catch up with old friends and helps current King’s footballers enjoy a great match ahead of the main football season. We were delighted that once again the OVs were able to field two teams and really help make it a great afternoon.”

The 1st OV team lost 6-1 to the current 1st XI but the 2nd OV team won 3-1 against the King’s 2nd XI. Despite the very different score lines, both were very close games, and every player really gave their all, with great support from Dr Mark Poole (Hon OV), who took on the coaching role for the OVs!

As a development from the OV vs King’s match, we would also like to see if there is enough interest for a purely OV 5 or 6-a-side tournament hosted at Slingpool Walk. If there is interest, it is likely to take place March or April. Please do get in touch to let us know what you think!
