A Tortive Theatre Tour

We were delighted to get an update from OV Oli Brooks (S 96-03), who is currently working closely with OV Ben Humphrey (Cr 93-04)! Oli explained that Ben has set up his own theatre Company, Tortive Theatre and has recently produced a one person play, The Whirligig of Time, which Oli directed. In addition, Hon OV Alice Humphrey (née Brunt) did the costume design for the play.

Oli reports, “We had a very successful run at The International Shakespeare Festival in Craiova, Romania. Our final performance received a 5 minute long standing ovation.

“The Whirligig of Time is a play written by Richard Curnow and is a one person play that tells you, what Richard believes, might have happened to Malvolio after Twelfth Night. It’s a funny and clever play with a dark side. Whether you know Shakespeare’s works or not, this play is for you.

“We have just returned to the UK triumphant and we’re ready for our run at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 2024. We will be at The Space, Niddry Street, from the 2nd August.

“Ben has also taken over the lease of a building in Berwick-Upon-Tweed and that is now Tortive Theatre‘s base. It’s called The Straw Yard Theatre. We have lots of exciting projects upcoming!”
