King’s Fencers Demonstrate Incredible Progress
King’s young fencers excitedly travelled to RGS on Monday, in the return leg of our annual KSW / RGS fencing matches.
All our competitors took the opportunity to demonstrate just how far they have progressed in their sport. As ever, each one learnt a huge amount from facing unaccustomed opponents with some incredible performances across the age groups.
Our standout team performances were from our Year 4 and 5 King’s St Albans competitors, coping very well against a Year 7 team from RGS, adjusting techniques accordingly with very significant promise for the longer term. Ava and Stella built strongly on their early lead to win 30-8.
Our Year 7s put in a valiant effort in their match; the pendulum swung widely before RGS pulled ahead for a 30-23 win despite their incredible determination.
Our most senior team demonstrated some fantastic skill but narrowly lost 44-43 in a nail-biting finish.
The whole experience was tremendous and boosts the impressive development of our young group of King’s fencers. We thank RGS for once again hosting us so well.
