On Monday 13th June and Monday 20th June, King’s Worcester’s Inter Girls, Junior Boys and Junior Girls competed at the ESSA Track and Field Cup Regional Finals.
This is a unique event, where every member of the team has to compete in both one track and one field event; this adds an extra dimension to the competition, particularly when it comes to the relays. Having qualified through the previous round, the teams next took part in the Regional Finals. You can read about the previous round here.
The Inter Girls travelled to Pingles Stadium, Nuneaton on the 13th June, where they had a fantastic day of competition. At the end of the event, the girls finished in fifth place, with an impressive total of 316 points. Congratulations to Upper Remove pupil Lottie K, who scored a fantastic 19 points in the 300m with a time of 47.0 seconds. Lower Remove pupils Jess D and Bryony G both performed well, with Jess achieving 17 points in the Javelin and Bryony scoring 30 points across her two events, the 800m and the Discus. Millie D scored 17 points in the 1500m, with a time of 5 minutes, 54.9 seconds, and Clarisse C, Esther G and Phoebe R also scored 15 points in the 200m, High Jump and Long Jump respectively.
On the 20th June King’s returned to the Pingles Stadium, Nuneaton, where the Junior Girls and Boys were competing.
The Junior Girls did incredibly well, achieving 241 points and coming fourth overall. There were many outstanding performances, with nine athletes scoring over 18 points. Congratulations to Upper Fourth pupil Phoebe M, who, with a time of 5 minutes, 07.3 seconds, scored an unbelievable 29 points in the 1500m; Lower Fourth pupils Sophie P scored 27 points in the 1500m, with a time of 5 minutes, 16.8 seconds, and deserves our congratulations too. Ella P and Lucy T ran the 800m extremely well, scoring 26 and 24 points respectively. Upper Fourth pupil Hattie W achieved a distance of 7.47m in the Shot Put, scoring 18 points, and Mathilda P also achieved 18 points, with a throw of 19.07m in the Javelin.
The Junior Boys had a fantastic day out with some excellent performances, coming seventh with a total of 354 points. Congratulations to Ollie T, who scored a combined 36 points in the 100m and High Jump, with results of 13.1 seconds and 1.41m respectively. Roman W also did exceptionally well, achieving a combined 38 points in the 200m and High Jump, with results of 26.4 seconds and 1.41 metres respectively. In the Shot Put, Jack F and Ethan W scored 19 and 16 points respectively, with results of 9.88m and 9.16m. Ollie I put in a fantastic performance in the 800m, achieving 23 points with a time of 2 minutes, 20.6 seconds.
Throughout both days of competition there were some excellent performances, and it was fantastic to see the results of their hard work and commitment to training come to fruition.

It was great to see so many pupils out on the track and in the field representing the school, and also to witness their camaraderie whilst supporting their peers.
