Royal OV news comes as we were delighted to watch OV Clifford Rose (S 43-48) feature in the latest Netflix season of The Crown! Clifford plays the Dean of Windsor in Episode 7, Moondust which sees Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and Price Philip (Tobias Menzies) trying not to fall asleep during the Dean’s long and bumbling sermon.
Clifford has been busy since the filming of The Crown and has recently been doing some poetry recitals along with six other actors and musicians, both in Stratford and elsewhere. For each recital the actors are given a theme and they can choose their own poems to read; the latest theme was ‘Dance’ and Clifford chose the poems: ‘I wandered lonely as a cloud’ by Wordsworth, bringing to mind the dancing daffodils, ‘I am the Lord of the Dance’ written by English songwriter, Sydney Carter and a 17th century poem, exhorting against dancing and music.
Clifford has recently celebrated his 90th birthday, with family and friends in London and he is looking forward to another busy year in 2020.
