OV on Careers Mission

OV James Jefferson-LovedayAt King’s, our careers programme is incredibly important as we feel strongly that pupils should be given as many opportunities as possible to learn about and explore a variety of career paths to best prepare them for the future. The OV community plays a key role in the careers programme by giving advice, attending careers events at school and online, providing career profiles and offering work experience.

One OV who also shares our passion for helping children explore potential careers is James Jefferson-Loveday (Ch 98-07) who is Head of Careers & Enterprise, Housemaster and Teacher of Geography at Magdalen College School, Oxford.

James has recently started a project called, Careersbadger, which involves posting career video interviews with professionals sharing their experiences of their particular field. We have been delighted to see that James has drawn lots of support from the wonderful OV community who have taken part in several different videos.

OVs who have taken part include Joe O’Connor (W 00-07) in the Social Media video, Sammi Perry (Br 00-07) in the Human Resources video, Alice Hershman (Os 00-07) and Richard Lea (Br 00-07) in the Surveying video, Chris Goodreds (Os 00-07) in the Marketing video and Issy Hershman (Br 02-09) and Piers Harris (S 00-07) in the Law video.

It is great to see so many OVs sharing their stories and insights and to hear how they are getting on and our thanks to James for sharing these stories with us.  These careers videos are published regularly here so keep an eye out for more OVs!
