Lower Sixth students interested in a career in Nursing relished the opportunity to speak with OV Hannah Shearburn (Os 09-16) when she visited King’s on Monday 6 June 2022.
Hannah is currently the youngest Sister on her ward, the Acute Admissions Ward, in an East London Hospital. She returned to King’s to talk to those Lower Sixth who were seeking advice about what they might expect from a career in Nursing, including what it is like to work in a London hospital.
Nicola Sears (Hon OV), said, “It was such a pleasure to see Hannah again and we are so grateful for the time she gave to the L6 students. They found it incredibly helpful to speak with an OV whose personal experiences give such an insight into the challenging yet rewarding career of Nursing. At King’s we are so fortunate to have such a supportive OV community to help guide the next generation of OVs.”
OVs may remember Hannah’s time on the COVID unit during the height of the Pandemic, not long after completing her BSc in Adult Nursing and registering as a Staff Nurse. Hannah’s swift rise to Sister exemplifies the commitment, care and expertise she has, looking after the hugely varied cases that come into her ward of 52 beds.
Joining Hannah was Head of Spanish (and Hannah’s mother), Rosie Shearburn (Hon OV), who was delighted to ‘host’ Hannah on her visit.
