OV writes important COVID-19 article on the creative industry

As we all know the arts industry has been having an incredibly hard time recently and OV Allan Clayton (H 91-99) has written an important and passionate article in The Telegraph this week reflecting on how COVID-19 has affected him and his industry. Allan talks about the difficulties those in the creative industry have faced especially those who freelance and those who did not qualify for Self-Employment Income Support Scheme or the furlough scheme.

Allan speaks honestly about how difficult he has found the past few months both professionally and personally. As an opera singer, much of Allan’s work is booked months and years in advanced so it is very difficult to look and plan ahead when there is still so much uncertainty. Despite lockdown, Allan has found some creative outlets during this time including the Wigmore recital we reported on recently.
