OVCC Slam Trophy Winners!

A great win for the OVCC on Sunday 24 September 2023!

The OVCC had a fantastic 11 run win over Stourbridge CC in the Slam Trophy final at the County ground New Road on Sunday 24 September 2023.

Batting first, the OVs got off to a strong start with Will Dovey (Cl 07-14) and captain George Francis (Cr 11-18 and Old St Alban’s) putting on 46 off the opening 33 balls, both falling for 26. Stourbridge then bowled tightly to restrict the OVs to 118 for five, off 100 balls.

A tense run chase followed from Stourbridge but an amazing bowling and fielding performance saw the OVs to victory. Oli Tsiquaye (Cr 13-20) 2 for 10, Bryony G and Will Dovey both 1 for 20 were the pick of the bowlers. The OVs clung onto to every catch and a Sam Garland (Cr 12-18) direct hit run out was the Champagne moment of the match. Stourbridge finishing on 107 for 8.

Other OVs playing were Harry Sproule (Ch 15-22 and Old Hawfordian) and Alex Lowe (S 13-20 and Old St Alban’s).
