OV’s Art Exhibition
We were very fortunate to welcome OV Oscar Marcus Boyle (Os 08-15) back to the King’s Art School to share his inspirational work in a joint exhibition with Tereza Horáček, whose mother, Claire Horáček (Hon OV) had taught Art at King’s – a prime example of the King’s family in action!
Oscar and Tereza had both attended The Slade School of Fine Art and this exhibition, held in the Terry Frost Gallery, displayed both selected individual works and some collaborative pieces. The collaborative work is particularly special as the two artists usually employ very different mediums and materials, creating their own, distinct, styles.
Oscar is currently living and working in Glasgow and had returned to Worcester purely for this exhibition at King’s. While he had made some time to visit family and friends in the area, Oscar was having to rush back up to Glasgow the day after the private viewing for another private exhibition he was holding!
Many of Oscar’s former teachers took the opportunity for an early viewing ahead of the formal opening to catch up with Oscar and hear about his work, including Alan Deichen (Hon OV), Gilly (Hon OV) and Elaine Friend (Hon OV) – obviously not forgetting King’s Head of Art, Chris Haywood (Hon OV)!
Oscar similarly took the opportunity to look around the Art School, noting that the standard of technique within the King’s Art School is on a par with much of that seen on degree-level Fine Arts courses!
There was an incredibly successful private viewing for pupils, parents and guardians, and staff in November, with the show remaining ‘in situ’ until the end of term as a continued inspiration for the current King’s artists.
Our thanks to Oscar, and Tereza, for sharing their work with the King’s art community and providing real inspiration for the budding artists.
