OVs bring Christmas cheer to care home residents

We were delighted to hear that OVs Amelia Martyn-Smith (Br 08-15) and Barney Sears (Ch 10-15) have been bringing Christmas joy to care home residents by producing festive gift bags. Amelia tells us how this wonderful project came to be…

“At the start of the year I had planned to organise a charity afternoon tea in the summer to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, following the diagnosis of my grandmother with the disease. Sadly due to Covid-19 it could not go ahead as planned, however I still wanted to try and help out.

Having participated in Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal throughout school, I was inspired to try and organise gifts for the care home where my grandmother resides. Having initially planned to do one floor in the care home and 16 present bags, amazingly we managed to gift 66 present bags, one for every resident! This was only possible due to the incredibly generous donations and gifts given by friends and family.”
