Pre-Season Training Reunites Players
After a long summer break, our sports coaches were excited to welcome children from King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s for Pre-Season Training earlier this week. The U10 and U11 boys combined for an afternoon of rugby on the Senior School pitches and the U10 and U11 girls came together for afternoon of hockey at our Bishop Perowne Astro.
Despite the very unseasonal weather, both sessions were well attended. They were a great way for teams at each school to work together and start building momentum ahead of the autumn term fixtures, which commence over the coming weeks.
The focus at both sessions was on perfecting basic skills. For rugby this meant looking at sharp passing and player positions. On the astro, the girls focused on their stick skills, with drills on passing, shooting and defending.
The Pre-Season sessions provided the coaches from both schools with an insight into what the season ahead might bring. There were stand out performances from both sports; the U11 boys’ rugby teams in particular should take confidence from the session as they head to the Elms 7s Festival tomorrow.
