OV’s England Cricket Cap
Many congratulations go to cricketer OV Josh Tongue (Br 09-16), who secured his first cap for England earlier this month, playing against Ireland in a one-off Test. Not only that, but Josh also took five wickets in the second innings, meaning his name will forever be recorded on the hallowed Honours Board at Lord’s; he’s the first OV to do so!
Josh’s bowling prowess has led England Cricket to call him up to the squad for the first two Ashes Tests later this month.

Josh has had a love for cricket from a very young age, playing for his club, Worcestershire, since he was six. It will be no surprise that Josh played cricket for King’s throughout his time at school, and was a firm member of the King’s 1st XI.
While at King’s, Josh was coached by Gilly (Hon OV), who added, “I watched with immense pride as Josh received his Test Cap at Lord’s on that first morning. To see someone achieve their life-long dream was truly thrilling and for him to perform so well and have his name etched onto the Honours Board was the icing on the cake. Having joined King’s in the Lower Fourth, Josh made his debut for the 1st X1 that summer; to my knowledge he is the youngest player to represent the School at that level, and he played regularly all year, taking many wickets along the way. He was a pleasure to coach, listening intently and working tirelessly to perfect all aspects of the game. He was also the A team fly half in a very talented rugby year group. All those associated with King’s will continue to follow his career closely and wish him all the very best in his cricketing endeavours.”
