King’s Day Celebrates a Wonderful Year

King’s Day 2026, the school’s traditional end-of-year celebration, took place at Worcester Cathedral on Thursday, bringing together pupils, families, OVs, staff and friends of the school to mark the close of another remarkable academic year.

This much-loved occasion is a special moment in the King’s calendar, offering the opportunity to celebrate the achievements, commitment and spirit of the whole school community, while also bidding a fond farewell to our Upper Sixth leavers as they prepare to begin their next chapter.

The congregation gathered in the magnificent surroundings of Worcester Cathedral for the King’s Day Service, which featured beautiful musical performances, including a well-received reprise of ‘All That Jazz’ from the school’s award-winning production of Chicago, as well as thoughtful reflections from staff and the Heads of School. Together, they looked back on the many successes, milestones and memorable moments since September. During the service, Mr Charles spoke about the strength of our community and recalled just some of the incredible achievements from the last year..

Following the service, students passed through the doors of College Hall for one final time, where they were met by applause from staff and families, accompanied by the celebratory sound of the Worcester Cathedral bells ringing in their honour.

The celebrations continued in the school gardens, where guests enjoyed lunch and a drinks reception, sharing memories, stories and good wishes on a day filled with pride and community spirit.

As always, King’s Day was made even more enjoyable by a wonderful programme of events. From the impressive A level Art Exhibition to the much-anticipated 1st and 2nd XI Cricket fixtures against the OV teams on the playing fields, and the King’s Boat Club Regatta on the River Severn, the day offered something for everyone to enjoy and drew strong support from across the King’s community.

We wish all our 2026 leavers every success as they take their next steps. Although this marked their final day as King’s students, they will remain an important part of the King’s community as Old Vigornians.
