The development of our Sixth Form facilities and curriculum provision is at the heart of our Foundation Strategic Plan.
Over the course of the next two years, our Sixth Form provision will be enhanced to meet the ever-changing needs of students and ensure that they are fully prepared for their transition to further education and the world of work. This is an exciting time for the growth of King’s Worcester Sixth Form.
The Sixth Form Centre
The Sixth Form Centre will be enhanced with a remodelling of an existing building at the heart of our school campus, the Victorian School House.
Through the collaboration of architects Squires and Brown, award-winning construction contractors Speller Metcalfe, Quantity Surveyors Greenwood Projects, M&E Consultants Preston Lee Chambers and Structural Engineers, Shire Consulting, the facilities will offer a larger space in which students will be able to learn, study, meet, engage with mentors and support staff, and develop the skills required to ensure they enjoy an effective transition into Higher Education and the working world.
Phase One: Completion by Autumn 2023
Phase One will see the addition of a plethora of enviable new Sixth Form facilities, including:
- A new Sixth Form Grab & Go café
- New Careers Suite with interview space
- Individual study spaces with booths for quiet study
- Additional Sixth Form washroom and changing facilities
- Lift access to ensure full accessibility throughout the building
In addition to the above there will also be a new Pastoral Hub for the Lower Years (Years 7 and 8) and new energy-efficient triple glazing throughout the building.
Phase Two is due to start in Summer Term 2024. This will see the development of further Sixth Form classrooms and multi-use spaces. Further information on these plans will be shared in due course.

The Sixth Form Curriculum
The investment in the Sixth Form Centre sits alongside the redevelopment of the Sixth Form Curriculum by Deputy Head Academic, Katie Beever. From September students will benefit from an extended curriculum, augmenting the exceptional academic provision at King’s with an enhanced qualification programme that will assist students as they enter Higher Education and the world of work.
In addition to A levels and our Life Skills Programme, students will be able to take full advantage of the new KSW Electives Programme, which includes a range of courses such as Sports Leadership Level 3, Core Maths Level 3, Digital Proficiency and Extended Project Qualifications. These courses have been designed to offer enrichment and challenge, enhance employability and provide additional invaluable UCAS points.
