Each year we welcome approximately thirty pupils from local state and independent schools, who want to take advantage of everything that our Sixth Form has to offer.

To join the Sixth Form, you will need to attend an Open Morning, register your application and pay a registration fee, and participate in the Assessment Day. Successful candidates receive a conditional offer of a place in the Sixth Form soon after the Assessment Day.

Choosing the Sixth Form at King’s Worcester

Choosing the right Sixth Form is a big step and that’s why we encourage you to come to an Open Morning, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions, chat to existing pupils, and really get to know the school before deciding to apply. In the meantime, you may find our articles below helpful:

Open Morning

Prospective pupils and their families are welcome to join us for the Sixth Form Open Morning. Key members of staff will be on hand to talk to you about our Sixth Form, including the Head of Sixth Form. Current pupils will act as personal guides on a tour of our facilities and classrooms, and will be more than happy to give an insight into life at King’s Worcester.

Our Sixth Form also features as part of our promotion in both of our two general Open Mornings for the Senior School, should you be unable to make the Sixth Form Open Morning. We can also arrange for an individual tour during the school day by appointment. Click here for details.

If you decide that you would like to apply for a place in the Sixth Form, we’ll ask you to complete a registration form and pay a non-refundable registration fee of £40. Visit our registration page for more information.

Taster Event

We host a Sixth Form Taster Event each year so that prospective pupils can spend some time in the school and participate in a range of activities with pupils and staff. This is a fantastic way for prospective pupils to learn more about the school and decide if they would like to progress to the testing phase.

A-Level Assessment Day

Each year we hold an A-Level Assessment Day which includes a multiple-choice cognitive abilities test and an interview. There will also be a range of team-building exercises, and an opportunity to observe A-level lessons in subjects that are of particular interest. Following the Assessment Day, offers are made, which are conditional on GCSE results.

GCSE requirements

To qualify for entry to the Sixth Form, the minimum requirement for external candidates is usually six passes at least at grade 6 and a further two passes at grade 4 at GCSE. We would expect most of our Sixth Form applicants to comfortably exceed this. Ideally, candidates should expect to achieve a grade 7 or higher in any subject that is to be taken at A-level if these subjects have been taken at GCSE, but a 6 will usually be accepted.

Starting Sixth Form: Induction

We hold an extensive induction period for all Sixth Form pupils, helping them to integrate into life in the Sixth Form and to prepare for their journey ahead. As well as helping them to settle into the academic flow of Sixth Form life, we organise a series of activities to support the social development of the year group and to help integrate new pupils.

I believe the Sixth Form at King’s Worcester to be one of opportunities: academically, socially, and with a broad co-curriculum. We want students to make the most of these opportunities.
