Each year we welcome approximately thirty new students from local state and independent schools, who want to take advantage of everything that our Sixth Form has to offer.
To join the Sixth Form, you are invited to visit an Open Morning or on a private tour. To take your interest further, you should register your application and pay a registration fee. Candidates receive a conditional offer of a place in the Sixth Form after completing a personal statement and once a satisfactory reference from their current school has been received.
Choosing the Sixth Form at King’s Worcester
Choosing the right Sixth Form is a big step and that’s why we encourage you to come to an Open Morning, where you will have the opportunity to ask questions, chat to existing pupils, and really get to know the school before deciding to apply. Open Morning
Prospective students and their families are welcome to join us for the Sixth Form Open Morning on Saturday 18th November 2023. Key members of staff will be on hand to talk to you about our Sixth Form, including the Head of Sixth Form. Current Sixth Formers will act as personal guides on a tour of our facilities and classrooms, and will be more than happy to give an insight into life at King’s Worcester.
We also welcome visitors for a private tour during a normal school day at any point throughout the year.
During a Private Tour you will be welcomed by our Acting Head, Dr Oliver, taken on a tour of our fantastic facilities by a member of Sixth Form and will be able to see everything that an education at King’s can offer, with the added bonus of your private Tour being able to be tailored towards individual academic & co-curricular interests.
To arrange a Private Visit, please click the link below.
Our Sixth Form also features as part of our promotion in both of our two general Open Mornings for the Senior School, should you be unable to make the Sixth Form Open Morning.
Registration
If you decide that you would like to apply for a place in the Sixth Form, we’ll ask you to complete a registration form and pay a non-refundable registration fee of £50. Visit our registration page for more information.
Taster Event
We host Sixth Form Taster Events each year so that prospective students can spend some time in the school and participate in a range of activities with our current Sixth Formers and staff. This is a fantastic way for prospective students to learn more about the school.
GCSE requirements
To qualify for entry to the Sixth Form, the minimum requirement for external candidates is usually six passes at least at grade 6 and a further two passes at grade 4 at GCSE. We would expect most of our Sixth Form applicants to comfortably exceed this. Ideally, candidates should expect to achieve a grade 7 or higher in any subject that is to be taken at A-level if these subjects have been taken at GCSE, but a 6 will usually be accepted.
Starting Sixth Form: Induction
We hold an extensive induction period for all Sixth Form students, helping them to integrate into life in the Sixth Form and to prepare for their journey ahead. As well as helping them to settle into the academic flow of Sixth Form life, we organise a series of activities to support the social development of the year group and to help integrate newcomers.
I believe the Sixth Form at King’s Worcester to be one of opportunities: academically, socially, and with a broad co-curriculum. We want students to make the most of these opportunities.
