A New Tradition Marks the Start of the Senior School Journey

On Tuesday, King’s began a new tradition as part of our Lower Fourth Induction Day.

The day began in familiar fashion, with pupils arriving at the historic Edgar Tower before meeting their forms, exploring the school on tours led by our school prefects, and beginning to find their feet in their new surroundings.

Later in the afternoon, we gathered together in College Hall for a special service- recognising our identity and heritage as a Cathedral School, and the importance of coming together as one community. It was wonderful to welcome extended family members too, sharing this significant moment with those who will support our pupils throughout their King’s journey.

In an addition to the annual College Hall service, each pupil shook the Headmaster’s hand on the steps of College Hall as they left, proudly watched by their families. In doing so, we began the first half of what we hope will become a wonderful bookend to their time at King’s: Lower Fourth pupils beginning their journey with this tradition, just as our Upper Sixth leavers have always done on their last day.

We were then delighted to host friends and family members in the school gardens, where we enjoyed refreshments and took photos to remember this milestone for many years to come.

It was certainly a very special beginning to what promises to be an exciting journey at King’s.
