Established in 1895
Established by Headmaster, William Bolland in 1895, the Old Vigornian Club is the alumni association for former pupils of the King’s Foundation. All former pupils are ‘Old Vigornians’ or ‘OVs’. The official Club colours are dark blue and white (the school colours) and chocolate brown; OV ties (first sold in 1900) and pashminas are available to purchase, along with other merchandise items. Please contact the Foundation Development and Alumni Relations Office on firstname.lastname@example.org or on 01905 721737 for more information.
Meetings and Dinner
Organised by a committee, which meets in Worcester three times each year, The Old Vigornian Club is responsible for an Annual Reunion Dinner, usually held in College Hall during the May Day bank holiday weekend. The Club’s Annual General Meeting also takes place during the same weekend.
Annual Reunion Dinner
The Annual Reunion Dinner is the highlight of the OV Club’s year. Around 150 OVs and guests attend this black-tie function, traditionally held in College Hall, during the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. The evening includes a drinks reception, sung grace, and a three-course dinner, followed by speeches by the President of the OV Club and the Headmaster. OVs can enjoy displays from the School Archive as well as lively conversation and the chance to meet up with old friends.
The next Annual Reunion Dinner will take place on 18th September 2021 in College Hall at King’s, Worcester.
Annual General Meeting
The Club’s AGM, held around the same time as the Annual Reunion Dinner, elects the OV President and ratifies OV Club accounts and Committee decisions. This is an opportunity for any OV to raise an issue, stand for election or hold the Committee to account.
The 2019 AGM will be on Saturday 4th May at 12.00pm in the Vigornian Room in the Keyes Building. Items of business for inclusion in the agenda, as well as apologies, can be sent to email@example.com
In addition, the Committee supports the work of the Foundation Development & Alumni Relations Office, particularly with support for the Bursary Campaign, which seeks to provide funding for forty, full-fee bursary places (as intended by King Henry VIII) in time for the school’s 500th anniversary in 2041.
The Vigornian Magazine
The annual school magazine, The Vigornian, includes news from OVs and is distributed to subscribers. Most OVs receive copies of The Vigornian magazine for the first ten years after leaving school; thereafter, this subscription can be renewed for five or ten years. Subscriptions can be renewed by contacting the Foundation Development & Alumni Relations Office on 01905 721737 or on firstname.lastname@example.org
OV Club Committee
The OV Club Committee meets three times each year and is responsible for managing the business of the OV Club including organising the Annual Reunion Dinner.
