Morning of sport unites pupils
On Tuesday, the Pre-Prep departments of King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford joined together for a morning of sport at the King’s Worcester sports fields on Slingpool Walk. The sun was shining and the children were looking forward very much to meeting each other again. Staff from King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford had been on site early and had set up myriad different sporting activities.
The morning started with a carousel of activities, one for Reception and the other for Years One and Two. The activities included obstacle courses, bean-bag throws and many other skills. A particular favourite was throwing the javelins as far as they could! The children took part in mixed teams and enjoyed making new friends and working together. Another highlight of the carousel was the rest station, which was much appreciated after completing half the circuit!
After a quick stop for a drink and a snack, the children took part in races. Once again, they were mixed up between the schools and having different opposition to race was great fun! The morning finished with a well-deserved picnic in the shade before loading up the minibuses to head back to their respective schools.
The children had a wonderful morning and it was a super event for our youngest children to make friends across our Prep Schools in preparation for their future King’s journey together. The King’s Foundation is proud of the strong relationships that exist between the Prep Schools. Regular events between King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford help to strengthen friendships and ensure that the move from Prep to the Senior School is incredibly smooth when the time comes.
