Run for Rob 2025
On Sunday 12 October, OV Ed Price (Os 11–18 and Old St Alban’s) completed an extraordinary tribute to his late friend, OV Rob Willis (K 11–18), running over 65 miles from Bath Spa University to King’s. The three-day challenge was not only a feat of physical endurance but also a personal journey to honour Rob’s memory and raise funds for the mental health charity MIND.
“Run for Rob” began on Friday 10th October, coinciding with World Mental Health Day, from Bath University, where Ed and Rob studied together. Over the course of the weekend, Ed covered 27 miles on Friday, 24 miles on Saturday, and 14 miles on Sunday, arriving at the Edgar Tower finish line at 1230 on the dot.
Ed was joined by fellow OV Adam Brotherwood (K 11-18 and Old Hawfordian) for a large part of the run to help support Ed, which was needed as Ed had developed an issue with his hip so was running in pain.
At the finish line, Ed was cheered on by a gathering of friends, family and former teachers – and a couple of tourists caught up in the excitement! Those gathered included Hon OVs Chris Wilson, Elaine Friend, Tom Sharp and Gilly, along with OVs including George Francis (Cr 11-18 and Old St Alban’s), Josh Matthews (Os 14-21), Sam Garland (Cr 12-18), Calum Slater (Os 11-18 and Old Hawfordian), Tor Bartlett (K 11-18 and Old Hawfordian), Ed’s brother, Matt (K 09-13), Kirk Wright (Os 11-18 and Old Hawfordian), Harry Launder (Br 11-18 and Old St Alban’s), Melissa Martyn-Smith (Os 11-18 and Old Hawfordian), Lucy Stratton (S 11-18 and Old Hawfordian), Lucy Warburton (Cr 14-18) and Fionnuala O’Hickey (S 11-18 and Old St Alban’s).
The Anchor pub in Diglis was the post-run gathering spot, where glasses were raised to Rob along with celebrations for Ed’s achievement.
Ed’s efforts have raised close to £4,000 for MIND so far, smashing his initial £1,000 target, with donations continuing to come in via his JustGiving page. You can see more about Ed’s journey via his Instagram account: @runforrobtraining.
