Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average class size at King’s?

A maximum academic class size is 24 but usually will be around 20, especially once pupils start to make option choices.  Pastorally children are in Forms for Lower Years (Years 7 and 8) and then join Houses from Year 9.  A pastoral year group class in a House would be around 15 pupils.  For Sixth Form the maximum academic class size is 16.

What are the timings of the school day?

The School day runs from 8.30am to 3.40pm.  The site opens earlier and closes later for extracurricular activities to take place and some areas of the school, for example the Library are fully staffed until just before 6.00pm each evening. Catering is available before school for breakfast and after school for snacks.

How does induction / transition work?

We run a full induction and transition programme for children making sure that all new pupils are able to meet with their new pastoral group.  For example for Year 7, we invite all children into school prior to the summer holidays and also for the full day before the school year starts, so that they are comfortable with where their Form Room is, take a tour of the school and to meet staff and other children.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

At King’s Worcester, we passionately believe that talent, commitment and good character should always be recognised and rewarded. We are therefore delighted to offer scholarships and All-Rounder and Leadership Awards. For more information on these  please refer to Scholarships and Bursaries or contact Registrar Vickie Peckston on 01905 721742 or email registrar@ksw.org.uk.
