Reception Class Explore the World of Handa’s Surprise with Fun Activities
This week, our Reception class has been immersed in the delightful world of Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. The children engaged in a range of creative and sensory activities, all inspired by the story’s vibrant setting and exotic fruits.
One of the highlights was a fun fruit tasting session, where the children bravely tried various exotic fruits featured in the book. The tasting experience sparked lots of conversation, with some mixed reviews, as pupils discovered new flavours for the first time.
In addition to the tasting, the children used salt dough to make models of the fruits from the story. After allowing them to dry, they later painted their creations, adding bright, bold colours to bring their fruit models to life. The classroom was soon filled with beautiful painted fruit baskets, each child showcasing their artistic talents with wonderfully colourful displays.
Well done to all of our Reception children for their hard work, creativity, and curiosity in exploring new things this week.
