A Magical World Book Day at King’s St Alban’s!
World Book Day at King’s St Alban’s was a fantastic celebration of stories, creativity, and imagination! From our youngest Nursery pupils to our Prep pupils and staff, everyone embraced the magic of books, making it a day to remember.
Our youngest pupils had a wonderful time dressing up as their favourite book characters and sharing their love for reading. The day began with a special assembly, where each child bravely stood up to introduce their character, share which book they were from, and explained why they loved the story. It was incredible to see their confidence grow as they spoke in front of their friends, and equally heartwarming to see their classmates listening so attentively.
Our Prep pupils arrived in a wonderful array of costumes, sparking plenty of excitement as friends guessed each other’s characters and discussed their favourite books. One of the day’s highlights was taking part in the BBC Teach Live Read-Along, where children across the UK paused for 60 seconds to read a book they love, all at the same time! This moment of shared reading was a powerful reminder of how stories connect us all. World Book Day wouldn’t be complete without our staff joining in the fun, and they did not disappoint! Teachers and staff members dressed up as iconic literary characters, adding to the excitement and showing pupils that the love of books lasts a lifetime. Seeing their teachers in costume sparked even more discussions about favourite stories, proving that reading is something to be enjoyed at every age!
The excitement reached new heights in the afternoon as our incredible Parents’ Association Group (PSG) waved their wizarding wands and transformed our school quad into Hogwarts! Their hard work in the lead-up to World Book Day resulted in the creation of ‘Enchanted Treats’ boxes, each containing a chocolate frog, jelly beans, and a Professor card, featuring our very own teachers! Pupils were eager to see which Professor they had received, and those lucky enough to find a Professor Hawker card won a special prize, generously donated by the PSG. This was truly a World Book Day to remember, and we cannot thank our PSG enough for their creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication in making it so special.
At King’s St Alban’s, we are passionate about nurturing a love for reading, and it was wonderful to see pupils of all ages engaging with books, sharing stories, and celebrating the joy of reading. Well done to everyone for making World Book Day such a fantastic occasion!
