Supporting Malvern St James Families

We are sorry to hear the news regarding Malvern St James School and recognise how difficult and unsettling this will be for its community.

The King’s Worcester Foundation wishes to offer a supportive and practical conversation to MSJ families who may be considering their next steps for September. Where appropriate, we would be happy to discuss potential places across our schools and to answer any questions.

Contact us confidentially to arrange a conversation.

Creative Leadership in Year 5: Exploring First Nation American Art

Year 5 are currently delving into the rich artistic traditions of First Nation American communities, combining creativity with cultural learning in their art lessons. As they explore traditional techniques, patterns, and symbolism, the children are developing an appreciation for the deep meaning and heritage behind each artistic style.

Adding a special element of leadership to the project, each child is taking a turn as the ‘Chief Artist’ for the week. This role goes beyond just creating artwork, it encourages pupils to step into a position of responsibility. The Chief Artist leads by example, reviewing the class’s creative work at the end of the session, selecting a favourite piece that stands out for effort, creativity or interpretation, and then nominating the next week’s Chief Artist. This thoughtful and reflective process has fostered a real sense of community and encouragement within the classroom.

So far, the artwork has been bold, expressive, and full of character. We’re incredibly proud of the leadership, collaboration, and artistic skill shown by Year 5 as they embrace this inspiring project.
