A Storybook Spectacle at for World Book Day

Everyone at King’s Hawford loves an opportunity to dress up and have fun, and Thursday was no exception as the school was filled with colour, imagination and excitement to celebrate World Book Day.

Children arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, leading to lively discussions in classrooms and inspiring a variety of fun activities throughout the day. Many children proudly brought in the books connected to their costumes which they talked about with their friends and teachers. A visit to the book fair was also a very exciting part of the day for many of our children!

The celebrations included a Wooden Spoon Character Competition, inviting children to design and decorate characters on wooden spoons, inspired by a book they love. The creative and inventive entries were a joy to see and reflected the children’s enthusiasm not only for books, but also for art and craft.

Staff joined in the fun too, with Mr Butt delighting pupils as The Tiger Who Came to Tea, while the Pre‑Prep team transformed into an array of Mr Men characters.

All the children and staff at King’s Hawford agreed it was a fantastic, fun-filled day to celebrate the wonder of books.
