Lunchtime is a wonderful time for children to relax together and enjoy a tasty, cooked meal. All meals are cooked on the premises in our recently refurbished kitchen by school catering staff. At morning break we offer fruit to everyone, along with milk or water. Children staying after school are given a sandwich, cake, or treat to provide additional energy at the end of the day.
Our Nursery and Reception pupils are served a two course hot meal at their tables. There is a reduced choice to these year groups as they often find the choice overwhelming.
Children learn to sit together, use a knife, fork, and spoon and to take turns.
Prep School Meals
School meals are provided in the Dining Hall. Children are offered a choice between two hot meals, one being vegetarian, or a jacket potato based meal each day. In addition, there is a salad bar and a choice of sandwiches. There is a daily dessert or the option of fresh fruit and yogurt.
Children are taught the importance of choosing a balanced meal and we monitor this to ensure they are not selecting unsuitable combinations. Staff sit with the children and emphasise the importance of table manners and good conversation at meal times.
