Grandparents’ Day Brings Families Together for a Special Celebration
The annual Grandparents’ Day at King’s Hawford always marks a special moment for our pupils, as we invite families into to explore our wonderful school.
This year’s event, a highlight of Arts Week, continued the exciting theme of Animals, which made for a fantastic day of fun, pride and performance.
Pupils excitedly welcomed their smiling grandparents to the school, where they were shown around pointing out classrooms and our wonderful outdoor spaces, stopping to look at creative displays and schoolbooks.
The most exciting part of the day was our spectacular musical extravaganza, held in the marquee and featuring a range of performances – starting with the Orchestra before moving through each year group and ensemble who all performed spectacularly.
Kindergarten’s rendition of Baby Shark saw our youngest children dressed for the beach, with older children and families all enthusiastically joining in!
Parents were particularly excited to hear the pop classic, Karma Chameleon’, while year 6’s ‘Lion Sleeps Tonight’ featured a thundering drum and Year 4 showed off their best animal moves in their version of ‘I Wanna Be Like You’.
The entire Prep School then joined together on stage for a rousing finale, Roar by Katy Perry, a fitting end to a celebration of individuality, creativity, and community spirit.
After the performances, grandparents and pupils enjoyed drinks and cakes on the top field in the sun, while the ever-popular ice-cream van offered an exciting treat!
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to all our wonderful children for creating a very special day.
