Celebration Assembly Marks a Joyous Start to the School Year
The first celebration assembly of the new term at King’s Hawford was an event bursting with excitement and pride. The energy in The Barn was palpable as Mr. Butt warmly welcomed students and staff, ready to recognize the incredible achievements of pupils over the summer.
The assembly started with a demonstration from Combat Kids’ Karate. Pupils watched in awe as they demonstrated some of the skills that pupils can learn in the club this term, inspiring everyone to try something new.
Mr Butt then kicked off the celebrations with Ariana P’s spectacular completion of not only the King’s Hawford Summer Reading Challenge, but also her local library’s reading challenge
One of the assembly’s key highlights was the presentation of a prestigious Headmaster’s Award to Tilly C. for her extraordinary holiday scrapbook. The scrapbook was based on her reading challenge and creatively filled with photos illustrating each category, a testament to her hard work and dedication.
The assembly also celebrated the remarkable success of pupils in the recent ABRSM music exams. The ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) is an internationally recognised assessment of musical talent, and our students’ outstanding efforts yielded impressive results: 4 Distinctions, 8 Merits, and 6 Passes. All applauded their perseverance and musical talent.
Thomas C also collected his certificates following his success in his Grade 3 Guitar with Merit and Grade 5 Piano Trinity College Music Exam.
In a joyful moment, the pupils raised their voices in a hymn, followed by a spirited rendition of “Happy Birthday” for George and Charlie, who were celebrating their birthdays that week.
The assembly concluded on a reflective and uplifting note with a Prayer, marking the end of a wonderful first week back at school and setting a positive tone for the term ahead.
