As always, we celebrated our Pre-Prep Superstars first this morning, beginning with Oliver B who was commended on his focus and enthusiasm during Reception’s dinosaur topic, Rupert for being engaging and enthusiastic, and Marnie for super focus and independence. Archie has risen to challenges well this week, Ana has shown excellent focus and Karla has worked hard on her handwriting. William R was congratulated for always giving his best, as was Reuben for being a super team player and helping others in the classroom.
Well done to Zara W and Rosie on their excellent descriptions of Elmer the Elephant, to Taylor-Mae, Ollie KD, Mia and Lucia for super wring in French and Immie and Jack for the lovely parrot artwork they produced in art club. Year 6 have been learning about the Blitz, and Ava T, Arabella T and George worked really hard on their research tasks. Sienna D was congratulated on her super attitude and hard work in class this week and Ethan received a round of applause for showing excellent Growth Mindset when learning Butterfly in swimming.
Last Saturday saw the exhibition of artwork entered in to the Malvern St James Art Competition, and a number of KSA pupils went along to see their pieces displayed. From Pre-Prep, Nell, Cerys, Zara, Mia, Shreya, Reuben, Martha and Florence and from the Junior School, Ava H, Harry B, George H, Harry, Scarlett, Eamon, Eleanor, Lily F, William J, Freddie B and Frederick submitted entries. Huge congratulations go to Harry and Scarlett who were winners of the Year 4 category, and received a goodie bag of art supplies as their prize.
Our World Book Week activities have included a competition to design a front cover and ‘blurb’ for the back cover of a favourite book. Winners were Ben J, Shreya, Sienna Y, Emily, Eleanor, Guy, Daniel, Florence V, Peter J and Grace. Well done, all of you! We were also delighted with the number of interesting pieces of literature which were brought in. Luca brought in a book by Anthony Buckeridge, who was a relative of his maternal Grandmother, Evie T brought in her mum’s poetry book, which was awarded as a prize when she was at school, and Jack showed us his copy of The Eight Famous Engines written by Rev W Audry, who lived next door to his grandparents, and named two of his trains after them. Benedict brought in two fascinating books: a copy of “Dealing with Dictators” written by Benedict’s Great Uncle who was an advisor to Winston Churchill and also his Great Grandfather’s book of poetry which was awarded as a literature prize by King’s School in 1877!
Melissa brought in the medals she won in her latest dance festival and Lily earned a medal in ski school over half term. Well done to our Year 4 netball players, Scarlett, Mia, Alice, Immie, Lucia, Taylor-Mae and Isabella who received certificates for playing in the U9 netball tournament at RGS The Grange, coming third in their group. Congratulations to all our swimmers who took part in the IAPS Swimming Qualifying Championships at Millfield School, especially the Year 6 girls, Arabella, Ava, Phoebe and Martha who came first in their Freestyle Relay and to Florence V who also came first in her Breaststroke individual heat.
