King's St Alban's

13 October

Down on the farm with Reception.

The King’s St Alban’s Reception cohort had a wonderful day at Little Owl Farm Park on Wednesday. Located a short minibus ride away on the outskirts of Ombersley in rural Worcestershire, Little Owl Farm Park proved to be fabulous educational experience as well as a fun-packed day out.

It was a perfect first school trip for the Reception children as they had the opportunity to explore and discover lots of different animals throughout the park. The children met a whole host of unusual animals and enjoyed the chance to learn all about their homes and personalities. There were foxes (a particular favourite of Mrs Monkhouse), pheasants and Meerkats. With three barns full of farmyard favourites, the children were delighted to get hands on by handling the guinea pigs, run around with the chickens and cuddle the rabbits. Further afield, the children were mesmerised when they spotted the reindeer. The children were so busy all day, finding out about the different animals.

A highlight for many of the children was a tractor-trailer ride, which was a little on the bumpy side but thoroughly enjoyable; the children were even able to feed Rheas and then watch them chase after us in the trailer. The children found it all great fun. There was plenty of wide-open space for the children to play on the adventure equipment and bounce on the big outdoor pillows, which they loved, squealing with excitement!

It was such a pleasure to take Reception on their first school trip. They were exceptionally well behaved and asked lots of interesting and thoughtful questions. The children were all exhausted from their big adventures by the end of the day, which made for a very quiet journey back to school!
