Informal Concert: A Showcase Of Musical Talent
On Thursday 10th October, we were treated to the first informal music concert of the year.
With a plethora of performances on bassoon, clarinet, cornet, trumpet, euphonium, guitar, piano, violin and voice, the large audience was thrilled to hear such a wide range of instruments and performances from children in Years 2 to 6.
Featuring several first-time performers – including Y2 Theodore and Elliott on their clarinets, to Y6 Harry and George duetting on the trumpet and euphonium – the music was well received with rapturous applause and plenty of encouragement. With piano performances from Trixie, Georgia and Elizabeth, and a lovely cornet duet from Robyn and Tilly, concert was full of contrast. It was wonderful to hear our violinists Alice, Fearne, Georgia and Pip, performing in a range of musical styles from a jazzy rendition of the Flintstones through to the middle movement of violin Concertino by Reiding.
Austin performed for the last time on his mini-bassoon before now progressing onto a full-size orchestral bassoon, and Lily gave her very first performance on the guitar. The concert featured a number of talented singers with beautiful voices, including Bonnie, Ellie, Izzy, Ariana, Ruby, Rosie, Jess and Iza.
The future looks bright for musical performance and there is talent in abundance throughout the school. With thanks to our wonderful peripatetic music teachers for their continued support and encouragement in school, and to all our parents we’re doing the same at home. We look forward to seeing you at the next concert on 28th November.
