King's St Alban's

12 March

Ivy, in 5P, is a very keen lover of animals. She set up a charity called SPIDER AID (AID stands for Animals In Distress) and sold spider plants to raise money for Vale Wildlife Hospital.

Ivy set up a Just Giving page so that members of her family, Year 5 and the teaching staff at King’s St Alban’s could support her charity in exchange for a home-grown plant. Ivy provided instructions for the care of the plants and how to take cuttings, once the plant was fully grown.

Ivy commented on her Just Giving page, ‘I am raising money for a charity called Vale Animal Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, near Tewkesbury. They rescue all kinds of animals who have been found injured or sick, treating over 7,000 casualties each year.’

The sale was very successful, with many plants bought and collected from the playground.  This was an incredible initiative by Ivy, for such a great cause.
