King’s Hawford Equestrian Team Shines at Rectory Farm, Securing Multiple Qualifications for National Championships
King’s Hawford’s Equestrian Team delivered a stellar performance at Rectory Farm, with all three teams qualifying for the NSEA Grassroots National Championships at Hickstead in August 2025. Competing in three different classes, the team demonstrated remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship, with individual riders securing impressive rankings.
In the 40cm Style Class, judged on style and precision, the team of Maysie, Rosie, Annie, and new Year 3 member Bella W rode clear rounds, earning Team 1st place and qualification for the National Championships. The team’s flawless performance saw the Master Monty Cup return to King’s Hawford for the second year in a row. Maysie, in a budding partnership with her pony Brownie, placed 2nd individually out of 18 riders, while Rosie finished 5th, with both qualifying individually for Hickstead. Annie and Bella also delivered strong rides, placing 8th and 9th, respectively.
In the 50cm Optimum Time Class, Rosie, Annie, and Bella secured Team 2nd, booking another team qualification for Hickstead. Individually, Rosie took an impressive 2nd out of 28 riders, with Bella finishing 4th on her team debut—a remarkable achievement. Annie also delivered a solid ride to place 8th. Despite some challenges, including an unlucky refusal for Addy and an unexpected dismount for Maysie at the final fence, the team’s performance was outstanding overall.
The 60cm Against the Clock class marked a new milestone for King’s Hawford, as it was their first time fielding a full team at this height. Adelyn, Maysie, Rosie, and Bella embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and determination, earning Team 4th and securing yet another qualification for the Grassroots National Championships. Individually, Adelyn rode a fantastic round to place 7th out of 29 riders.
The day was a resounding success, with all team members demonstrating growth, skill, and the ‘have-a-go’ attitude King’s Hawford is known for. Bella’s debut was particularly notable, as she stepped up to the challenge and excelled in her first competition with the team.
King’s Hawford’s equestrian squad has set a high standard, and the team is eagerly looking ahead to their next outing and the exciting challenges that await at Hickstead. Congratulations to the entire team for their hard work and fantastic achievements!
