Upon arrival, the children were overjoyed to be greeted by Father Christmas’ magical helpers, who told us all about what the morning had in store for us and what we were going to be doing during our visit. First, the children explored the Christmas trees. There was much excitement using a map to look for the baubles which were hidden in the trees. Each one had a letter and a number which was a clue to Father Christmas’ favourite carol. The children loved running through the trees and it was gloriously muddy after the snow at the weekend!
Everyone was then super excited to meet the reindeer who were getting ready for Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, Rudolph was in training, so we didn’t get to see him! But the disappointment was quickly forgotten as the children boarded a trailer for a ride around the farm. Then was the main event! Queuing up patiently in a magical winter wonderland with real reindeer, the nativity scene, a wishing well and even a real sleigh, the children were on their best behaviour! When it was time, the elves let us in to see Father Christmas. Everyone told him their name and age and the children asked him some super questions. He gave us all a present too!
It was then time for our delicious picnic lunch, which the children devoured in the barn. The walls of the barn were like giant blackboards and everyone loved the chance to draw once they had finished eating. Then there was just time for a play in the play area before setting off back to school. The children’s behaviour was impeccable and everyone was so proud of them. There were certainly lots of happy but tired children that night. This was the perfect way to start kick start the festive season.
