Pre-Prep Nativity – Magical in so many ways!

There is no doubt that the Pre-Prep nativity this year was truly magical. Children from Reception to Year 2 enthusiastically performed Whoopsy-Daisy-Angel to a live audience over two performances. The children were super excited and very well rehearsed, having performed a smooth dress rehearsal to an audience of attentive Prep school and  Nursery children.

As parents took their seats in our Pre-Prep hall, they were treated to several festive tunes, played beautifully by Megan Kilbey (King’s Worcester pupil) on the piano. It cannot be underestimated how lovely it was to be able to welcome an audience and for the children to hear the rapturous applause from their proud parents. From start to finish, both of the performances were outstanding, even when the Pre-Prep teachers sprang a surprise or two on the children along the way!

Introduced to the story of the very first Christmas Day by angelic angels, fluttering snowflakes and an accident-prone angel, the nativity moved into the traditional story, where we met the shepherds and their lambs. Mary and Joseph then took to the stage, followed by our real donkeys, Faith and Hope who, alongside our fabulous pupils, were the stars of the show!

Melting the audience’s hearts, Aubrey (Year 2) sang a beautiful solo of Away in a Manger before we met the Kings and the new baby. The stage was then flooded by the whole cast for the grand  finale. The children sang their hearts out and spoke their lines clearly and confidently. We are so proud of the children- standing up in front of an audience can be extremely daunting and everyone rose magnificently to the occasion. It was a super start to everyone’s Christmases, and we are already thinking about next year’s performance. Who knows, next time there might be a real baby too!
