Pupil Leadership Team ready to guide school

With the new school year upon us, King’s St Alban’s made the decision to reintroduce a Pupil Leadership Team to the School: it has been almost 20 years since the School appointed Heads of School and a team of School Prefects. The Head, Mr Chapman, made the decision to revive the Pupil Leadership Team to encourage pupils to take up leadership roles and inspire their peers.

The anticipation for the selection of newly appointed Prefects and the Heads of School for the forthcoming term reached its peak this week. The children, eager and enthusiastic, had written excellent letters of application to demonstrate their suitability for these valued positions. Teachers gathered to review the nominations, taking into account not just academic achievements, but also leadership qualities, commitment to the School’s values and suitability for each individual role.

The selection process was modelled on the process in place for School Monitors at “Big King’s” and all Year Six pupils were invited to submit application letters. The submissions that Mr Chapman and the teachers received were all brilliant, but there were a few that really stood out. As these roles are only held for a termly basis, other pupils are encouraged to consider applying for the roles in the Spring Term.

The announcement of the newly appointed Prefects and the Heads of School for this term was made in Celebration Assembly on Friday and the announcement was met with both excitement and a sense of duty.

We are delighted to announce that Ellie B, Jasper M, Laura D, Sebastian S, Joel B, Beth S, Helena C, Rook T, Charlotte C and Phoebe E have all been appointed as School Prefects for the Autumn Term. Ellie and Jasper M take up the roles of Citizenship Prefects, Laura and Sebastian are our Academic Prefects, Joel and Beth have taken on the role of House Prefects, Helena and Rook are our new Sports Prefects and Charlotte and Phoebe are our Performing Arts Prefects.

Congratulations go to Rook T and Ellie B, who were also given their Heads of School Pins this morning. As Heads of School, Rook and Ellie will be expected to represent King’s St Alban’s and the pupil body, feel confident and comfortable talking to and in front of both adults and pupils, have good organisational communication skills, and take a mature and thoughtful outlook.

Our congratulations go to our Autumn Term leaders, who are ready to take on their responsibilities, inspire their fellow students, and guide the school community toward a successful and harmonious term.
