Rounding off the week celebrating!

This week’s Celebration Assembly kicked off with a fabulous rendition of Bare Necessities, played beautifully on the trombone by Thea; it certainly had many pupils in the audience tapping their feet. The beautiful piece also formed part of the Informal Concert, involving 22 musicians, which had taken place on Thursday evening. Mr Butt congratulated all of the musicians, some of whom have only recently started to learn their instrument.

Continuing on a musical theme, the whole school sang an uplifting version of Go Tell it on the Mountain before singing Happy Birthday to Cassian, Florence, Ben, Rhys, Mrs Hughes and Mrs Danks: Happy Birthday, everyone!

Moving on, Mr Butt invited Cameron (Year 6), Gracie (Year 1), Trixie (Year 1) and Freddie (Year 4) to join him for a delicious treat in the Headmaster’s office at break-time, having been awarded five subject Merits each. The coveted Top House Point Achievers for each year group were then announced as follows: Senna (Reception), George (Year 1), Yaseen (Year 2), Fearne (Year 3), Jasmine (Year 4), Robin (Year 5) and Harriet (Year 6); outstanding work from them all.

There were a number of badges to be awarded. Finn received his Science Badge, Ava, Chloe and Isabella received their Maths Badges, Ava and Jetta their PE Badges, Henry his Outward Bound Badge, Robyn her Eco Badge, Alanna and Fearne their Reading Badges and finally, Joshy his Times Table Badge: congratulations to them all.

Before announcing the Headmaster’s Awards, Mr Butt was delighted to present India B with her latest Karate grading.

HMAs were then awarded. The first went to Harry (Year 4), for his outstanding booklet all about organisms found in Forest School and an excellent explanation of photosynthesis. The booklet was well-illustrated, with an abundance of information included. Sylvie, Amelie, Georgia, Sophia, Fearne and Isaac all received their awards for their story writing on the topic of Pompeii; the descriptions, use of language and creativity all impressed their teachers. We clearly have budding authors in Year Three!

In Year 2, HMAs were given to Yaseen, William, Syrenna, Georgina, Casper, and Bonnie for their outstanding Hedgehog Shape Poems. Mr Butt was so impressed that he even read out a couple of lines from each one to the whole school. And last but by no means least, Charles (Year 4) received his award for achieving 47/47 in his latest French test.

After the Lord’s Prayer was said by everyone, the latest House Point figures were announced. Clent had the lead last week and there was much anticipation as to whether they would take the top spot again…and they did! Congratulations to everyone in Clent.

To finish, Simi and Jacob were presented with their music grade certificates, which they had missed out last week.
