Singing Through Science: Learning the Phases of the Moon

Our budding Year 5 scientists have been reaching for the stars this week as they explored the phases of the moon in their science lessons. To help them remember the different stages, the children turned their learning into a fun and musical experience, rehearsing and performing their very own moon phase karaoke.

With pencil case microphones at the ready, the pupils enthusiastically sang their way through “new moon,” “crescent,” and “full moon,” demonstrating both creativity and confidence. This approach to learning not only helps embed scientific concepts in a memorable way, but also encourages teamwork, active participation, and a love of learning. By combining music with science, pupils strengthen their recall, enhance their communication skills, and enjoy a multisensory learning experience that makes complex ideas more accessible.

A fantastic, out-of-this-world way to learn, well done, everyone!
