Sports Review: A positive end of the season

This week marks a positive end to the rugby and hockey seasons for many of our pupils.

U10A Rugby v Winterfold

For the last fixture of the rugby season, the U10 boys travelled to Winterfold House on a beautiful crisp afternoon. The boys performed very well, not conceding a try the whole game, and attacked very effectively with the ball finding gaps in the opponent’s defensive line.

Monty was a constant threat driving forwards and rucking well, and so to was Theo, who was easily the player of the match, scoring some excellent tries. Francis worked the ball well out of the scrum, Rook had some great runs displaying good agility, and Aaron and Tom continued to tackle well. In the second half there was greater emphasis on moving the ball down the line at pace to George on the wing which the boys did well, with Wilf showing good ball handling skills. A very positive end to a fantastic season for the U10 rugby team. Well done boys!

U11A v Winterfold

A brilliant way to finish off the term of rugby for the U11 boys. They produced a dominant performance which demonstrated everything that they had learnt this year and they worked hard on a number of aspects that we had outlined to improve on. They used the ball well and managed to work it to the wings, where they had the pace and power to get around their opponents to score the try. Their defensive line has shown significant improvement this term and the boys demonstrated grit and determination in their tackles. It really was a great team performance and a positive end to a busy rugby term for the U11 team.
