Swimmers from King’s St Alban’s reach ESSA Finals

WOW! What an amazing couple of weeks swimming for our Year 5 and 6 swimmers. Last Friday we took 10 Year 6 pupils to Bromsgrove for the ESSA relays. None of our swimmers had swum in this pool previously and it was not the easiest pool to which to adapt. All our children really rose to the occasion with their best performances and times so far this year. Our boys won their freestyle relay, with Aiden not breathing during his length and a sharp start off the blocks by Sam C.

Our Year 6 girls then swam their Freestyle relay, and it was one of those occasions where you think that all their hard training came together in one go. Miss Woodger has been working extremely hard with these swimmers and it is a tribute to her that they were able to knock seven seconds off their training time when it came to the main event. Both teams then went on to win their Medley relays.

These events are all dependent on times from all the Qualifying Events from around the West Midlands.  We are delighted to announce that our Year 6 Girls are the West Midlands Champions for both their Freestyle and Medley Relay. We could not be more proud of these children and we are very excited to be going to the National ESSA Finals in Sheffield on June 18th.
