This week in Year 2

Year 2 have had a busy week and they have immersed themselves in their space topic.  In their Creative Writing lessons, they focussed on writing a space poem with rhyming couplets.  They began by brainstorming lots of rhyming words associated with space and then they all wrote four rhyming couplets.  In their science lesson they researched information using books and iPads, coming to the conclusion that living on the other planets in our Solar System would be a bit tricky!

The children always love their weekly art lessons with Mrs Cain and this week they enjoyed making stained glass windows.

Along with the other Pre-Prep children, Year 2 have been busy rehearsing for our forthcoming Christmas Nativity.  We had a dress rehearsal this week and are very much looking forward to recording it all on Monday. We cannot wait to show all our friends and families the final recording!

The highlight of the week was definitely Elf Day on Friday.  The Year 2 classroom was full of festive cheer and the children got up to a whole range of elf activities, including finding the answer to Christmas jokes through some clever maths code-breaking!
