Exploring Soluble and Insoluble Substances in Year 6
This week in Science, Year 6 have been investigating the fascinating world of solubility. They explored which substances dissolve in water and which do not, developing their scientific thinking and observational skills along the way.
They conducted hands-on experiments, carefully testing a variety of materials to see how they reacted when mixed with water. They made predictions, observed the outcomes, and recorded their findings, discussing why some substances dissolved while others remained intact. This practical approach helped them understand important scientific concepts and the difference between soluble and insoluble substances.
It was fantastic to see them so engaged and curious, asking thoughtful questions and comparing results with their classmates. Many were excited to discover unexpected results, sparking further discussion about everyday examples of solubility in the world around them, from sugar in tea to oil in water.
Through these experiments, Year 6 are not only learning key scientific knowledge but also developing important skills such as careful observation, teamwork, and reasoning. Their enthusiasm and inquisitiveness made for a very lively and successful week in Science!
