Year 5 Shine in Curtain Raiser Performance at MAC

On Wednesday, Year 5 swapped the classroom for the stage as they proudly returned to their Creative ConneXions costumes, reapplied their make-up, and travelled to the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Birmingham. The occasion? An exciting opportunity to be the curtain raiser performance for the University of Worcester’s Dance Degree Show.

Our pupils rose to the challenge with poise and passion. They performed their dance with confidence and flair, captivating a brand-new audience. A special mention goes to Hannah R, who opened the performance with a beautifully delivered reading of her accompanying poem, setting the tone for a moving and memorable piece.

Following a well-deserved round of applause from the university dance students and audience alike, our pupils settled in to enjoy the main performance. Watching the university dancers in action offered inspiration and insight into the world of professional dance, and the children were clearly engaged and impressed.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, and Year 5 represented the school with pride, maturity, and enthusiasm. We are incredibly grateful to the University of Worcester for offering us this enriching opportunity, one that has not only showcased the talents of our young performers but also given them a glimpse into what they might achieve in the future.

Well done, 5E, you were a true credit to King’s St Alban’s!
