At the end of last week, the children celebrated their 100th day in Year 1. Since September, the class has been looking at the number each day to help deepen their understanding of place value and develop their confidence with numbers.
To mark the special milestone, the children took part in a range of fun 100-themed activities. They created edible necklaces by carefully threading 100 cheerios, decorated cakes with colourful ‘hundreds and thousands’, and explored number bonds to 100, which they then displayed on balloons.
The celebrations also included some fantastic learning at home. The children were set the challenge of counting 100 items of their choice by organising them into 10 groups of 10. It was wonderful to see the creative ways they approached the task and the enthusiasm they showed when sharing their work with the class.
It was a fun and memorable day for everyone, and the children should be very proud of all the learning they have achieved so far this year. Well done, Year 1!
