A Fantastic Historical Adventure at Warwick Castle

Year 2 had a fantastic day exploring Warwick Castle, bringing their History learning to life in a truly memorable way. The children loved discovering the castle and spotting the many features they had studied in class, including the moat, battlements, portcullis and arrow loops. It was wonderful to see them recognising these features and sharing their knowledge as they explored.

We also stepped back in time in the Time Tower, where the children discovered more about the fascinating history of Warwick Castle and its many owners over the centuries. The moving portraits that came to life were a particular highlight and certainly captured everyone’s imagination.

After plenty of exploring, we enjoyed a spectacular bird of prey display, The Falconer’s Quest. This exciting show gave the children an insight into the important role falconry played in medieval times, when it was a symbol of wealth, status and power. The magnificent birds swooping gracefully overhead were a real highlight, and the children watched in awe as they flew so close above their heads.

Despite the rainy weather, Year 2 had an action-packed day filled with history, discovery and excitement. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life and make some fantastic memories together.

Well done Year 2 for being such enthusiastic historians and making the most of this brilliant school trip!
