Supporting YoungMinds on #HelloYellow Day 2024!
We were honoured to take part in YoungMinds #HelloYellow Day on Thursday, 10th October 2024, in support of World Mental Health Day. King’s St Alban’s joined thousands of schools and communities across the UK to raise awareness and funds for this incredibly important cause.
YoungMinds is a charity dedicated to supporting children, young people, and parents with mental health challenges. Their work helps young people express their feelings, manage daily stresses, and provides crucial resources for those coping with mental health conditions.
To show our support, pupils were encouraged to add a splash of yellow to their outfits, wearing neon socks, bright t-shirts, or even banana-yellow hat! In return, donations were made to YoungMinds, helping fund their invaluable services.
Staff also got involved by wearing yellow, helping to send the message that it’s normal to experience emotional ups and downs, and that we all need to prioritise our mental well-being. Assemblies and form times were dedicated to discussions on mental health, sharing positive strategies to support emotional resilience.
Additionally, as part of our Wellbeing Wednesday initiative, pupils spent time creating “What Makes You Great” badges for each other, celebrating each individual’s unique strengths. It was great to see each child proudly wearing a bright yellow badge fitting in the Hello Yellow 2024 theme, wear it loud, wear it proud! This activity highlights our commitment to mental health education and fostering a supportive environment at King’s St Alban’s.
