Year 1 Investigate the Journey of Germs!
Year 1 have been full of curiosity as they explored how germs spread and the importance of hand hygiene.
Using glitter to represent germs and dirt, the children quickly discovered just how easily these ‘glitter germs’ could transfer to their hands, classmates, and objects around the room. Laughter and surprise filled the classroom as they watched the invisible spread in action! To reinforce the importance of good hand hygiene, the children then practised proper handwashing techniques, carefully scrubbing away their ‘glitter germs’ with soap and water. They learned that thorough washing, rather than just a quick rinse, is the key to keeping hands clean and stopping germs from spreading.
This hands-on experiment was a fantastic way to help Year 1 understand why washing our hands properly is so important for staying healthy. Well done, Year 1, for your curiosity and enthusiasm in learning how to keep yourselves and others safe!
